About Alpha Project Phyzio!

Meet ALPHA PROJECT

Dr. Matthew Silver is a coach, educator, physical therapist, and founder of Alpha Project Phyzio & Performance. He has been a distance runner for the past 13 years.

While a freshman in high school, he fell in love with distance running and hasn’t looked back since. He was first exposed to physical therapy after suffering from runner’s knee and low back pain while running cross country. After high school, he ran collegiately for 2 years where he set his college’s 8K record and made the all-conference team. This was bittersweet as he could not finish the last two years of his collegiate career due to this recurrent and persistent knee and low back pain despite going to multiple medical practitioners.

Believing his competitive running career was over, he decided to focus on his education by learning as much as he could about running injuries and physical therapy. He started to notice a trend of runners getting prescribed cookie-cutter exercises, being told they need “new shoes”, or, even worse, being advised to stop running altogether to avoid their pain, rather than addressing the underlying dysfunction that is causing their pain. Because of this, he has developed a unique interest in injury prevention and rehabilitation through movement quality.

We are often told by medical practitioners of our limitations and the things we cannot do. Dr. Silver is on a mission to change that. He believes you deserve to run long distances, often, and with no pain. He doesn’t look at an injury at face value, but rather peels away the layers of an injury and finds the root cause of the issue. This allows him to not only guide you toward resolving your pain and dysfunction but also improve your running form and movement quality.

The world of cookie-cutter exercises, pills, arbitrary surgeries, and useless cortisone shots is over. Welcome to Alpha Project!

Dr. Veronica Brugmann

Dr. Veronica Brugmann is a pelvic floor physical therapist, avid CrossFitter, and educator.

Her interest in pelvic floor physical therapy started after her freshman roommate suffered from endometriosis pain and received pelvic floor physical therapy. Seeing the benefits of pelvic floor physical therapy was extremely impactful.

Once Veronica became a physical therapist, she took her first pelvic floor course and was hooked. She fell in love with how it helps women and men with incontinence/leakage, pelvic pain, postpartum women, pregnant women, and more. She continued her education through the Herman & Wallace Institute and is a teaching assistant for the institute.

Veronica comes to Alpha Project after being frustrated with the current healthcare model and lack of quality patient care in traditional insurance-based clinics. Alpha Project’s dedication to a full-body approach to rehab and unique 1:1 treatment style resonated with Veronica, ultimately leading to her joining the team to help patients get the best quality care they deserve.

Whether your goal is to run a marathon after having kids, get back to the CrossFit gym, or walk to your car without leakage or pelvic pain, Veronica works with you to optimize your pelvic floor so you can do what you love without any restrictions.

Rebecca Breve completed her undergraduate studies at Manhattanville University in White Plains, NY, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Studies. She then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Elon University in Elon, NC. During her graduate studies at Elon University, Rebecca volunteered at the Hope Clinic, providing physical therapy services for the uninsured and underserved community and breaking the language barrier to facilitate more comprehensive and effective care for the Hispanic community.

Rebecca is an accomplished athlete, having played soccer collegiately at Manhattanville University and for the U-20 and Senior Honduran Soccer National Teams. Given her professional experience as a physical therapist and background as a high-level athlete, she subscribes to the belief that preventive care and rehabilitation is the key to physical well-being and optimal performance.

Rebecca decided to pursue a career in physical therapy following injuries from competitive play, leading to her early retirement. She experienced the lack in quality care provided by the current insurance-based medical system and strove to make it better. She joined Alpha Project when she saw how her values of patient care perfectly aligned with the clinic mission statement.

Rebecca’s experience in providing physical therapy care extends to a number of patient populations ranging from children to adults. She particularly enjoys rehabilitation of the competitive athlete to return to athletic performance. She is committed to working with athletes to get them back to sports with a decreased risk of injury. She believes preventive rehabilitation is the key to physical well-being and athletic success.
